Bill Maher tells Boston to get over marathon bombings

'Real Time' host Bill Maher has stirred controversy again by telling Bostonians to get over and move on from the Boston marathon bombings.
Maher aired the comments on his popular HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher, telling Bostonians that their city had not been "leveled by Godzilla."
The Real Time host had said that while what had happened was bad, that bad things do in general happen:
It was again, a bad day, three people died, that’s terrible. More were maimed, that’s horrible, but unfortunately that happens every day, in car accidents and everything else.
Bill Maher has been known for his often controversial remarks. After the 9/11 attacks, he drew widespread criticism after arguing that the 9-11 hijackers were not cowards, as it took more courage to fly a plane into a building than lobbying missiles from miles away.

Comedians should avoid making serious comments while on stage. It's like listening to a popular Hollywood actor during an interview and losing all respect.

I think the guy has a platform and he has the right to believe what he wants. If people don't agree with what he is saying its a pretty easy fix. Turn the channel. We need to remember that he is a comedian, and today more than ever people are quoted saying things that are being taken way out of context.

Well, he was certainly bang on re: 9/11 cowardice (flying into towers versus firing drone missiles) - but so many are in denial re: their own county's terrorism.

Bill Maher may be a comedian, but he is very politically astute, and is no dumb bunny. Larry! It may do you some good to listen to Bill one evening.

It is horrible, but I get his point. He's being tough about it for what reason though?

I have seen and heard Maher on a number of occasions. His musings are left-wing liberal, not terribly funny and designed solely to get attention. They pay him to have extreme views that will attract an audience. His views and conclusions always seem overly exaggerated and overblown.
It is the same schtick that a comedian who is not that funny and uses vulgarity to get laughs. The jokes are usually not that inventive or funny but entice the audience, for reasons that I have never been able to understand, to laugh.
I have no idea where you get the idea that he is politically astute or smart. He's a comedian who has found a niche that keeps him employed. No more ... no less.
