Photo Essay: Lagos residents ring in Christmas with beach party Special

Residents of Nigeria’s commercial capital of Lagos took to the seaside to celebrate Christmas with an all-night party and plenty of booze.

The brewery powered concert, featured games, performances by young music artists, music by the DJ and plenty of beer.
At the Lagos bar beach, beer came cheap and residents gulped as much as they could. And some fell asleep while on their beer table.
For many Lagos residents, the night of this year's Christmas would be one to remember. "Ho my God we just got back from #barbeach, it was all fun," @VICOTVS, an up and coming music artiste wrote on Twitter.
Digital Journal brings you some pictures from the Christmas day edition of the event which started several days back.

What kind of music is usually played at these parties?

@David. Contemporary Nigerian music rains at such parties. Same goes for most clubs and bars.

Samuel, given that this was a beach party celebration, do you know if any of the revellers went for a midnight dip in the water?

Interesting question Steve. People were warned against going close to the water. Security reasons were cited. So no midnight swim allowed. Revellers only enjoyed the seaside.
